You find yourself in large room with books lining the walls and the various small tables, with a very comfortable looking couch near the window. A sun beam peeks through the window as you notice a small person almost hidden behind a big book. He notices you looking at him and he lowers the book revealing a curious-looking childlike face. He smiles at you and nods his head indicating that you should take a seat next to him. He introduces himself as nightowl and starts telling you all sorts of fascinating stories about the adventures of The X-Structure and other interesting tales.

The Future

There is something in the distance, something great and vast for us to behold, in the future, and we are moving towards it, moving with great anticipation, with great excitement and with a deep reverence for being given a part in this great adventure.

The X-Structure is not really real but virtually real

That title is a mouth full and it is true, it's a mouth full.

We are not real in the real sense of being physically real beings but rather real in the imaginative fictional sort of way real.

Really? 

But you guys looks so real and seem so in tune with reality. Like for real.

We do?

You must be mistaking us for someone else. We are in fact figments of the imagination of a mad musical genius (he said that, not us) who is mysterious and ridiculously good looking like Starrzan but just more so. And we can't tell you who he is because he made us promise not to tell anyone. Sorry about that. You can still think of us as real and enjoy us as we are, as we were made to be.

Above all else, we wish you to enjoy the music and that it may be a positive influence in your life, that you may feel, hear and see a glimpse of the Divine, for that is our purpose and our delight.

Again, that is what he told us to say. We are merely puppets in his hands. He is some sort of musical puppet master. Be he ain't half bad though. He's a good guy really, wild but good. Maybe you will meet him one day, like for real.

Our biography - The 'other' version

The X-Structure was formed in South Africa during the dark winter months of 2008 when the air was icy cold and no one dared venture out late at night. It was a moment marked with purposeful resolution and diligent preparation. Forged from the distant echoes of outer space and the profound imagination of Man, The X-Structure's formation was Divinely guided. And so although this was what appeared to be the formation of the band known as The X-Structure it had in fact begun much earlier in time...

It all started countless millennia ago when the grand tapestry of the universe was created, and this with the utmost intent. Through the slow moving strokes of time an image resembling that of an X was marked off on the proverbial map of the universe. Its presence etched out on a great plane of dark blue light, standing proudly in its lofty position, majestically heralding its Creator. Now back on a peculiar planet called Planet Earth, during the Age of Man, the paths of four intrepid adventurers crossed on four different junctions in time. They had all met through Starrzan, one of the four, who was part of an organisation called Adventures on Planet Earth. Shortly after their encounter with him they each joined the ranks of this organisation because of their common ideals.

Adventures on Planet Earth, also known as APE, was established as a global non-profit organisation with its primary goal being to share the goodness of life with everyone. This they accomplished through various initiatives aimed at raising the public's awareness to specific social and environmental issues in their community and to call forth action by providing a creative and effective plan of action. Through their interaction with the public they use music as one of the main mediums to transmit their messages. Adventure and exploration forms part of the core activities which its members partake in. These adventures takes on many forms and APE's ideals are not to be merely spectators in life but to experience and share the fullness of it through the wonder of nature and the appreciation of all the good things that are found in life.

So it was the spirit of exploration and the pursuit of adventure that brought the band together but there were two other things that would strengthen their bond of friendship and reveal in them something greater than themselves. One was found within each member's intrinsic ability to express themselves musically. The other was found in their adoration and reverence for the ultimate source of their creative and physical being, The Creator of All. This was the key to their bond and their common vision of life was the door to be unlocked. Thus The X-Structure was formed as an elite unit of APE, utilising their specialised skills of music and adventure, to fulfill their mission of experiencing and sharing the goodness of life.

Within the band each member's personality is reflected in the instruments they play. Each member also possesses uniquely honed skills that are invaluable to the team when in the field.

Starrzan, the Wild, is the team leader, the pathfinder, whose melodies and vision leads the way forward. Nightowl, the Innocent, is the mood seeker, the scout, whose elusive and mysterious nature reveals the movement of the unseen. Chacma, the Gracious, is the time keeper, the climber, whose beats and rhythms keep the band on time. Epic Beard, the Wise, is the silent speaker, the tactician, whose epic tales resound with wisdom and with grace.

With every expedition they return from they retell the story of their adventure through the grand universal language of music, where the listener's imagination joins them on the journey.

Dawn of a New Day

The rising sun slowly emerged over the distant dark mountains. Starrzan awoke dreamily and with him the new day started.

It was yet another day in the bustling concrete jungle but fortunately for Starrzan he operated best in jungle environments. In the end it was his attitude towards the many situations faced in his life that influenced the outcome of his day. The world was often dark and had many problems, most of which was brought on by the greed of Men, but in Man also lay its salvation.

Today he had set aside his time to do the preparation and planning for his next expedition, his next adventure, which would lead, unbeknownst to him, to one of the greatest adventures he would ever have in his time here on Earth. And so this adventure started with a meeting at APE's headquarters, found fittingly at The Adventurers Guild, a meeting place for adventurers, explorers and like minded people.

Adventures on Planet Earth, also known as APE, was an organisation, headed by Starrzan, whose purpose it was to share the goodness of life with everyone. Their weapons of action was music and adventure, to inspire people to share the good things in life with others, and to make them realise that beauty and goodness is all around them.

All were present at the meeting, the register totaled four. Starrzan wasted no time in explaining why each one was called to be present. He produced a map from his backpack and folded it open on the table for everyone to see. The map displayed a mountainous area which seemed to be somewhere in Southern Africa. Starrzan explained that APE had been contracted by another organisation to scout out an area which was densely overgrown with trees and vegetation, and had many possible dangers. Their goal was not only to provide valuable reconnaissance of the area but to also find the ancient ruins of a tribe that once lived there and to bring back all of their discoveries. There was an immediate air of excitement around them as they each pondered the expedition.

Although all who were present at the meeting were members of APE, Starrzan had decided to create a specialised unit for tasks, such as this, that had more of a dangerous nature. Each present were therefore chosen specifically for their specialists skills in key areas of this expedition and they all relied on one another completely to make this mission a success. Because of this four-way bond they now had, which was to distinguish them as one enity, he dubbed the band The X-Structure.

Chacma, with his baboon-like features, was an expert climber and could, with relative ease, scale any scalable object. He also had a close affinity with the rhythm and beat of nature and could keep a precisely timed account of any event. A perfect drummer that could play any simple or complex beat and made it sound like there were two of him.

Nightowl was most elusive, and mysterious, and at times you would think he was not even there. He provided the much needed stealth element to the group and could scout out an area without making a sound. His interest oddly enough lied in the complexity of sounds and he was always ready to record an intriguing noise, a sound, and then used it later in one of his many sonic stories. A mood-setter through ambient keys and dream-like soundscapes.

Epic Beard was much slower and less agile than the others due to his older age but his keen mental abilities easily made up for this. His lore of the natural and the artificial was boundless and his tactics and strategies unmatched in any situation, except maybe when it came to the much more complex nature of the female kind. He was by far the oldest in the group and also the wisest in the matters of life. He seldom spoke but when he did it was always with a twist of humour and of wit. Some would call him deep but he would say that he just tried to play along with the tune of his spirit and the unseen movement of life. Bass resounds in his voice, in his soul, and in the morals that through him are taught. A bassist of note, a companion without measure.

Lastly there was Starrzan the brave, some say the crazy, was the leader of the pack. With his wild hair and naturally shiny blue eyes, he had the mark of a good leader. His humble approach to leadership however was often be frowned upon by the more aggressive type but it always proved successful to the purpose of the endeavour. Amongst other things, he liked taking long walks on the beach, reading short books and talking to animals who never seemed to say much back. There was this one time however when.... I digress. Starrzan had a sharp eye, a quick mind and a willing heart, the real mark of a good leader. He had an instinctive ear for a good melody and was often the voice of the group when situations so needed him. A subversive voice and a melodic lead player.

The inspiration behind the name

Somewhere, out there, in the infinte reaches of space, an epic cosmic formation can be found. Formed by a system of vast greatness and profound intent, this formation is known as the 'X' structure. Etched out in a great plane of dark blue light, it resembles the image of an X that has been marked off on the proverbial map of the universe.

Now back on a peculiar planet, called planet Earth, a certain adventurerous band can be found. They ventures forth, and in and around, a dimension known as the dimension of sound. They are known as The X-Structure.

By now you might be thinking what these two distant entities have in common? And the answer would be simple for they have both been created and chosen by grace, to be a part of this creation and the grand story of life.

The formation of The X-Structure

The formation of The X-Structure was divinely guided, like the star that the wise men of old had followed to find the Great Hero. If you had to ask Starrzan if both stories were true then he would say "fully".

The X-Structure is a band of intrepid adventurers, explorers, travelers and musicians who have been joined together to tell a story of life, and the greatness of it, through the movement of music and words.

The time of The X-Structure is here and you are now a part of their story.

And with that we all have our part in the history of Time. However brief it might be, or seem, it still holds importance to the greater story of Life.
